Can you believe it? We will close Canyon Campground three weeks from Sunday. It seems we have just gotten open, and now we have to start getting ready to close.
That's the one negative about working at Canyon...the short season. However, Bill and I will lengthen our season by moving to Madison Campground and working September 9 - October 14. It will be like a vacation for me, as I will be working as a GSA...just checking people in and out.
Today is the last day of our three-day weekend. As a Manager, once a season I am able to take a three-day weekend. In the past, Bill and I have always gone camping. This time however, we have done things a little differently. We returned the pop-up to storage, went to Bozeman to do shopping for Christmas (in Yellowstone we celebrate Christmas on August 25) and to buy the DVDs and cases needed for the year-end movie Bill and I have been working on. We have gotten lots done, and it's been relaxing. I think I'm ready to go back to work tomorrow. : )
With just three weeks left, we are entering the home stretch. Of course between now and closing things will be busy. As mentioned above, we will celebrate Christmas in August, have a movie night, and the thing I'm most excited about is my mother and aunt will be visiting! They will arrive on September 2 and stay for a few days. It will be fun playing tour guide.
Sorry I have no pictures to post. Let us get to Madison, and I'm sure we'll have time once again to get out and play and to take some great pictures!

ReplyDeleteWOW, 3 weeks until closing. That hardly seems possible. Christmas in August sounds like a lot of fun especially if it isn't 90 degrees where you are. Looking forward to more pictures to come.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good sign...when time flies by so quickly. You guys are so busy, I can only imagine how fast the summer season comes to an end.
ReplyDeleteWe picked up our rig yesterday in Elkhart, Indiana! We are moving our stuff into it and trying everything out on the dealer lot this weekend. Monday we will be heading out to a nearby campground to become further acquainted with maneuvering 40 ft. of fifth-wheel.

Drove through Yellowstone yesterday on the way to NFS campground outside East gate. Thought of you as we passed Canyon and the construction. Spent nearly 30 minutes in buffalo jam in Hayden Valley. I know you are going to enjoy your time at Madison, just being one of the guys and gals, as the crowds thin out. Madison is our favotite CG in YS, Take care..jc
