What a Week!

One of the perks managers get is a three-day weekend.  I've got mine scheduled for later this month, but  the Campground Manager took hers last week.  That means additional work for me, but that's OK.  On top of that, one of our cashiers ended up in the hospital, and it doesn't look like he'll be returning to work.  Thank goodness, Bill is able to cover in his absence.  But now that leaves a front desk position open.  Guess who gets to cover that?  Yours truly, of course.  You know, part of being a manager is making sure the work gets done.

I tell you all of this to explain that I worked A LOT of hours last week.  I've adjusted the schedule a bit, so hopefully, it won't be so bad this week and in the future.

But, like always, our Friday finally got here.  Bill and I loaded up the pop-up and headed to Canyon Campground.  It's a quick getaway (only 16 miles) and just what the doctor ordered!  We even had time for a nice hike.

We hiked out to Cascade Lake, which is a nice flat trail about 5 miles round trip.

A lot of folks see moose at the lake.  No moose for us, in fact, we saw no wildlife, but the wildflowers were magnificent!

After our hike, we got back to our campsite, and Bill began dinner prep.  Our friends, Mike and Lee, came by, and we all enjoyed a delicious pork roast Bill cooked in his Dutch oven.  It was nice to sit by the fire afterwards and visit with good friends.

OK, after a great weekend, I think I have the strength for another week!
