Another Yellowstone Summer Under our Belt

We closed Grant Campground yesterday at 11:00 a.m. Our last guest drove out around noon…there's always one!

This time of year is bittersweet. Everyone is ready to move on to new adventures, but it is always a little sad to say goodbye. We work & live so closely, we all become like a family, especially after two summers with the same folks. This is the best group I have ever worked with. We were so busy at the campground, there was no time for bickering or knit-picking each other. Wasn't it Ben Franklin who said, "We must all hang together or we will surely hang separately." That's how it is at the campground: we all work together and rely on one another to get through all the craziness that is Grant.

Some of our coworkers pulled out yesterday afternoon, as soon as they checked out with Human Resources. And some of us stayed one more night and pulled out today. So, last night, all of us who remained had a nice campfire and weenie roast. What a fun time we had hashing out the summer. After dealing with a record-breaking number of guests, it was great to kick back, relax, and enjoy each other's company.

As folks pulled out today, Bill and I were able to say good-bye, shake hands, and give hugs to all of our friends. And yes, there were quite a few teary eyes…both male & female.

After the last couple pulled away, we drove down to Human Resources so I could check out. And then we came back to the rig, hooked up, and left Yellowstone after another successful and memorable summer.

Always glad to read your latest, Cathy. We did not make it to YNP this year but did visit Glacier, Columbia River Gorge, and Oregon coast. Your 'Views from the Open Road' blog our recollections of our Aug & Sep FBRV adventure in 2007. Keep it up and best wishes. Ray
