Now it feels like we are officially in Yellowstone. We hiked one of our favorite hikes...Storm Point, an easy 2.6 mile loop trail that leads out to Storm Point and then back to the trail head.
It was a beautiful day, and the lake was calm...and the mosquitoes were out in force! As long as we kept moving, we kept the mosquitoes at bay. But when we stopped...oh man, they were ferocious! But, putting up with mosquitoes is a small price to pay for this wonderful vista.....
Every time we hike Storm Point we have always seen yellow-bellied marmots. Today was no different, except we saw some very young marmots. We believe there was a marmot den in the rocks, because we saw quite a few young ones running about.
And I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture of my favorite photographer:
The Storm Point hike led us by Indian Pond. If I could build a log cabin in Yellowstone, this would be my front yard. I would sit on my front porch and enjoy the view.
As we approached the trail head, we saw this guy. He was between us and the truck. We decided to take the long way around to the truck. That turned out to be the right decision, as this guy promptly walked right down the trail. I'm sure there were some surprised hikers!
After putting in long hours getting Grant Campground up and running, it was so nice to have some time off and actually get out into the park. That's the reason we're here!

Hey,
Looks like you are busy! I love seeing what you are up to.
I just got back from a week in Texas. It was really hot there - over 100 each day.
Glad to see you're settled in.
Love,
Mary
